Abstract

By embedding a pair of bent slots close to the side edges, novel dual-frequency operation of a single-feed equilateral-triangular microstrip antenna is presented and experimentally studied. The two operating frequencies have parallel polarization planes and similar broadside-radiation patterns. A tunable frequency ratio of the two frequencies ranging from about 1.2 to 1.43 is obtained by varying the lengths and positions of the bent slots. Details of the proposed dual-frequency design are described, and experimental results are presented and discussed. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 28: 389–391, 2001.
