This article reviews landmark cases from Hong Kong concerned with locating the source of business profits. It extracts guiding principles from these cases and evaluates their relevance in interpreting statutory provisions that define the scope of income taxation in Singapore, and for resolving issues relating to whether business profits are sourced in Singapore.
