Abstract

O (formaldehyde) have been visualised by two-dimensional laser-induced fluorescence applied to a rich methane–air flame of a Wolfhard–Parker burner. A novel arrangement of the frequency conversion crystals allows the simultaneous excitation of the mentioned species with a single dye laser system. Rearranging the crystals back to their standard position extends the wavelength range allowing the excitation of two additional species, OH and CHO, without the need to change the dye.
