Abstract

Bruce Achauer, MD, Orange, CA , is a board-certified plastic surgeon and an ASAPS member. The practice of simultaneous face lift and chemical peeling has been criticized for many years in plastic surgery literature. Because gentle treatment of a flap is essential to its survival, creating the flap and then traumatizing the surface is counterintuitive. Reports of skin loss, delayed healing, and scarring associated with simultaneous laser resurfacing and face lift have deterred many plastic surgeons from this combination of procedures.
