Abstract

A new iterative method is proposed to compute many eigenpair derivatives of damped systems with respect to system parameters. The state-space form of damped system is not used. The proposed method simultaneously computes the derivatives of many eigenpairs, and the solution of many large linear systems of equations with different coefficient matrices is avoided. Numerical experiments demonstrate that the proposed method can be efficiently used for the computation of the derivatives of the eigenpairs with largest magnitude in large symmetric damped systems. Moreover, when the size of system and the number of desired eigenpair derivatives become larger, the proposed method has more advantage.
