Abstract

A model for coupled heat and mass transfer in laminar film flow over a cooled wall is set up. Five dimensionless parameters are needed to put the equations and boundary conditions into the dimensionless form. The equations are solved by a finite element method and the results are presented in graphs of Nu and Sh versus Fo for several values of the dimensionless parameters. These graphs show that the results differ significantly from those for pure heat transfer and pure mass transfer. A computation scheme using the data from the graphs is also presented. This scheme can be used in the design of a sorption system.
