Abstract
A procedure that permits the simultaneous determination of major, minor and trace elements in urinary calculi by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry is described. The dissolution of samples is achieved with a commercial microwave oven using a mixture of nitric and perchloric acids. Ca, Mg, P, Al, Cu, Fe, K, Li, Mn, Mo, Na, Pb, S, Sr and Zn were determined in more than 100 South African stones.
