Abstract

An elastic-plastic incremental finite element computer code is developed to simulate sheet bending processes. The updated Lagrangian scheme is employed as the base of the code, and bending processes are simulated under the plane strain condition. Important feature of this code is a newly developed r-minimum algorithm which can deal with deformation-dependent sheet-tool contact conditions precisely in incremental manner. Simulation of bending processes such as UO-bending of steel sheets to form pipes and U-bending of the steel-plastic laminate sheets are carried out. The simulation clearly demonstrates efficiency of the code.
