Abstract
Summary A steel/polymer/steel three layer laminate is a new composite sheet which recently starts to be used in automobile parts and panels for the purpose of vibration damping and weight reduction. Bending process of the laminate sheets is simulated by an incremental elastic-plastic finite element method under plane strain condition with taking special care for description of boundary conditions. The simulation clearly demonstrates the process of generation of folding defect in the laminate sheet at the bent flange, and calculated sheet geometries agree very well with experiment.
