Abstract

The equilibrium of the flow distribution is the key to the renovation of traditional commercial Streets. Nowadays it’s mostly driven by predictions based on the previous experience of some experts, which inevitably become subjective or obsolete to some extent. However, the development of space syntax provides more accurate predication to the distribution of pedestrian flow. This paper takes the typical traditional commercial Streets which are being built in Guangzhou as prototypes, and are simulated with Depthmap and SPSS. The results indicate that, in conditions of entrance and transportation balanced distribution, combining integration and tenants could predict the distribution of passenger flow more effectively. Organization concise and reticular relative spaces contribute to the realization of balanced flow distribution. When the space traffic spatial organization is poor, the reasonable commercial combination can improve sharing to a certain extent.
