Abstract

Movement of mobile station (MS) affects the signal received from the base transceiver system (BTS). Decreased signal reception conditions, if channel exposed to rain. Rain attenuation as color noise affects signal quality. Special signal quality in mobile networks mainly 3G network signal transmission can be grouped into the drizzling rain, stratiform, medium, heavy convective and storms, have the effect of its own in the process of signal transmission. This final project will simulation and analyze the effect of rain attenuation 3G networks in the area of Mataram. The method used to obtain data one of which is a drive test method for the measurement of signal quality 3G networks. Power link budget parameters are observed is the value of RSL (Received Signal Level). The results of the research comparing the theoretical calculations with the measurements with the parameters RSL value in rainy conditions. Comparison received signal power level at the clear sky conditions and rainy conditions is −119 dBm furthest from BTS conditions, compared with the value of RSL in clear sky conditions −90 dBm. Rain Attenuation down grade in the signal received from 3G to 2G. Rain attenuation is more influential than the 3G network signal quality compared to the 2G network signal quality for the value of RSL on the 3G network reached an average of −105 dBm.
