Abstract

In this paper, a novel hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) powertrain based on electric variable transmission (EVT) with dual clutches is put forward. In this novel powertrain, one clutch is used to enable the internal combustion engine to directly drive the wheels and the other is to fix the inner rotor of EVT to realize a double-electric-machine powertrain. Firstly, driving modes of this powertrain and its benefits is discussed. Secondly, the simulation is built by using EMR and inversion control strategies are designed. Compared with traditional EVT based HEV powertrain, the novel HEV powertrain is allowed to operate on more different modes, making the EVT based powertrain more flexible and more reasonable for its application.
