Abstract

The results of 2×2 multimode interference coupler simulation obtained by beam propagation method and the semi analytical eigenmode decomposition method were compared. The evaluation of the semi-analytical model accuracy was performed by the comparison of the power in output waveguides. The maximum relative error was 4 % (relatively the result obtained by beam propagation method). In this way, the semi-analytical mode could be used for fast prototyping of multimode interference couplers and could be built-in the systems of circuit-level simulators.
