Abstract
Detailed plasma simulation is needed for the interpretation of neutron energy spectra measured during deuterium neutral beam injection. Results from a comparatively fast, dedicated package of computer codes for simulation and analysis of line-integrated time-dependent neutron energy spectra are presented. The analysis comprises time-dependent simulation calculations for several JET discharges which cover a wide range of plasma conditions. The simulated spectra are shown to be in good agreement with the measured data. By using measured and simulated neutron spectra the deuteron temperature can be inferred, under well-defined circumstances. Results are confirmed by independent measurements.
