Abstract

This paper deals with a number of experimental measurements curried out to evaluate the behavior of a BP 380 photovoltaic (PV) module under real environmental test conditions and for different values of load. A Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) connected to a DC-DC boost converter is applied to extract the maximum available power generated by solar PV modules in order to supply load demands under varying solar irradiance and cell temperature. In the first part, the implementation of the system has been made with Matlab/Simulink software. Simulation results of the BP 380 PV model under meteorological standard conditions have been accomplished. The second part presents experimental results of the system under real test conditions and for various load demand scenarios. The performances of the control system are then validated.
