Abstract
The use of autopolymerizing acrylic resin to reline a complete denture is a time-effective procedure to accomplish refitting a denture to the supporting tissue. The use of autopolymerizing acrylic resin can be an effective adjunct to the standard heat-processed acrylic resin reline methods. It is cost-effective, quick, and easy to accomplish in most office settings. The most common disadvantage to this technique is the inability to control the acrylic mass during the polymerizing stage. Securing the denture to the jig with sticky wax (Sticky Wax; Kerr USA, Romulus, Mich) or other materials can also be messy and time-consuming. This article describes a reline technique using a vinyl polysiloxane material to retain the denture in the reline jig and to control excess autopolymerizing acrylic resin from bonding to surfaces not being corrected.
