Abstract

A charge transfer is one of the most important parameters when the damage to the equipments on a power transmission line due to the high energy of the lightning discharge is discussed. The amount of charge transfer associated with a lightning flash or individual strokes can be estimated by using the electric field measured with a slow antenna. In this paper, we propose a simplified method where the height and the amount of a charge is estimated from the measured electric field change, and the accuracy of the estimated results is roughly estimated.
