Abstract
Model predictive control (MPC) is one of the emerging control strategies for permanent magnet motor drives in Electric Vehicle application. It’s evident that MPC functioned permanent magnet motor drives provide less torque ripples and good response over various steady state and dynamic conditions. In this paper, a simple scheme for flux and torque control of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) using model predictive torque control is proposed. In this proposed model predictive torque control, two distinct cost functions for torque and flux control are used without assigning weighting factor. This simplified scheme initiates good steady state response for PMSM drive. The proposed control is validated by simulations with regard to steady state and dynamic characteristics over direct torque control. The simulation model is built in MATLAB 2020a-Simulink environment.
