Abstract

This paper aims to investigate similes in Thomas Hardy’s novel Tess of the d’Urbervilles and their translation into Albanian. Similes will first be analyzed in terms of their structural make up. The next step will be the analysis of their semantic content and the stylistic functions they fulfill in the original text followed by the way they have been recreated in the text in Albanian. The overall aim of the paper is to shed some light on the way these rhetorical tropes are dealt with in translation. DOI: 10.5901/jesr.2014.v4n4p270
