Abstract

Summary The key techniques in a traditional first course in differential equations are linked by reexpressing them in terms of differential operators and change-of-basis ideas, including integrating factors, variation of parameters, and the method of undetermined coefficients. The main tool is to convert linear operators from sums to compositions.
