Abstract

``Silo feeders and discharge drives'' are not just a subject of feeders and controls. Feeders are treated as total feed systems. To understand and design a proper feeder and drive one must consider the total material handling system. That system must function as a total unit to insure continuous flow of material to the process. Material physical characteristics, types of storage facilities, hopper bottoms, aids to material flow, type of feeder, method of drive, and control must all be considered and planned for while selecting a ``silo feeder''.
