Abstract
A silicon photonic chip can integrate multiple waveguide devices. The front cover conceptually illustrates a chip with functional devices. In the image, provided by Yikai Su an co-workers (article number 1901153), the trapezoidal shapes represent the mode and polarization combining/splitting devices, while the ring resonators perform the tunable wavelength (de)multiplexing function. The fabrication process of such photonic chip is generally compatible with that in the CMOS microelectronics industry.
