Abstract

The realization of an all-solid photonic bandgap optical fiber (PBGF) based on silicate glasses in spectral wavelength band ~920 nm is achieved. The structure parameters and bandgap of the fiber are both demonstrated theoretically by plane-wave expansion method calculations and experimentally by near-field measurements. The all-solid silicate glass PBGF has one bandgap and has a core transmission band of 853-980 nm, which is important for laser generation at ~920 nm in Nd-doped silicate glass fiber.
