Abstract

In 1971 dermatologist Kenneth Greer found the Greer's goo formula in an old textbook1 and popularized it after successfully treating his daughter's diaper dermatitis. The classic version consists of nystatin powder (4 million units), hydrocortisone powder (1.2 g, which equates to slightly less than 1%), and zinc oxide paste (4 oz).1 It typically requires pharmacy compounding. Despite the goo's relatively inexpensive components, pharmacy compounding can increase its price to a point that some patients find challenging.
