Abstract

Sigmoidea contorta sp. nov. is described from a freshwater stream in Thailand. It is similar to Sigmoidea prolifera, but differs in gross colony morphology and by the presence of a microconidial state on thick-walled contorted hyphal branches. Geniculospora grandis (one isolate from stream foam) and Setosynnema isthmosporum (three isolates from decaying leaves in water) are described from pure cultures.
