Abstract

Sialolipoma is a rare tumor found within both major and minor salivary glands. It is described as a variant of salivary gland lipoma. It predominantly affects males and commonly involves the parotid. A 42-year-old White female patient came to the service with the main complaint of extensive painless swelling of slow evolution in the parotid region. The extraoral physical examination showed an increase in volume of soft and mobile consistency. Computed tomography showed a hypodense and well-delimited image, measuring about 3.4 cm in the largest diameter. Excisional biopsy was performed. Histopathologic examination revealed mature adipose tissue mixed with acinar, ductal, basal cells of normal salivary gland surrounded by fibrous capsule, diagnosed as sialolipoma. The patient is being followed up.
