In this issue of Developmental Cell, Marques etal. (2019) provide evidence that the main receptor for high-density lipoporoteins (HDL), scavenger receptor B1 (SR-B1), forms large and dynamic homo-multimers at the plasma membrane. This helps the receptor to evade endocytosis, bind HDL, and facilitate selective lipid uptake from HDL.
