Abstract

A review is given on the Shubnikov-de Haas (SdH) effect (i.e., an oscillatory variation of magnetoresistance) and its application to II-V semiconducting compounds. First, the origin, conditions of observation and quantities measured in the SdH effect are discussed in connection with the band structure of semiconductors. Subsequently, some SdH results obtained for such compounds as Cd 3 As 2 , Cd 3 P 2 , CdSb and solid solutions of II 3 - V 2 semiconductors including Mn-alloyed materials are presented.
