Abstract
Background: Despite constituting 50% of the population, females, as defined by sex, have long been systematically omitted from research trials. The hesitancy to address the “complications” of estrous cyclicity have created large knowledge gaps in many health conditions including colorectal cancer (CRC). Prehabilitation is important to prepare patients for CRC surgery but differences based on sex have yet to be explored. The purpose of this work is to (1) identify whether sex-based differences exist within our patient population and (2) to develop a comprehensive profile and better understanding of the typical male and female who present to the prehabilitation program.
