Abstract

The results of studies of shot blasting as one of the methods of mechanical cleaning for surface hardening (peening) of parts are presented. The simulation in the QForm-3D (VX) software environment of high-speed impact of spherical particles on the metal was carried out and the stress–strain state of the metal in the impact hardening zone was revealed. It was shown that friction losses are proportional to the squared velocity of the particles of the shot blasting machine, and a decrease in the value of the contact friction coefficient will accordingly reduce the frictional work and increase the blades resource. Calculations and studies have established the basic laws of the shot blasting process conditions influence on the surface geometry and the metal surface layer properties.
