Abstract

Objective To observe the short-term efficacy of arthroscopic meniscus arthroplasty on elderly patients with meniscal injury. Methods A total of 300 elderly patients with meniscus injury treated in the Affiliated Peace Hospital, Changzhi Medical College from January 2016 to December 2018 were selected as the study subjects. And they were divided into the control group and the observation group according to random number table method, with 150 cases in each group. Patients in the control group were treated by routine meniscectomy, while patients in the observation group were treated by arthroscopic menisgoplasty. The recovery of knee joint function, perioperative indexes and complications were compared between the two groups. Results The excellent and good rate of knee function recovery was 96.67%(145/150) in the observation group and 88.67%(123/150) in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P 0.05). The hospital stay, postoperative joint activity and Lysholm scores in the observation group were significantly better than those in the control group (P<0.05). The postoperative complication rate was 3.33%(5/150) in the observation group, and it was 12.00%(18/150) in the control group, while the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions Arthroscopic meniscal arthroplasty for elderly patients with meniscal injury can achieve satisfactory short-term results, help to promote the recovery of knee joint function and reduce the risk of complications.
