Abstract

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a growing epidemic across the globe. There is ever-evolving research to decode aetiology, diagnosis, treatment and management of CAD. Cardiovascular diseases especially the coronary artery disease is the leading cause of mortality and morbidity in India with the prevalence rate increasing by the year. It is a progressive disease characterised by the accumulation of lipids, inflammation and plaque formation. The risk factors include smoking, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, obesity and high cholesterol.
