Abstract
AC Solid-State Power Controllers (SSPCs) are widely used in aircraft power system and others. Short-circuit protection is a significant function of AC SSPC. In this work, GaN is applied to AC SSPC to increase power density and the key techniques of short-circuit protection based on GaN are discussed. Firstly, this paper briefly introduces the short-circuit protection strategy using power transistor linear region to implement short-current limiting. Secondly, the influence of transient thermal impedance on short-circuit protection is discussed. Then, the short-circuit protection stability about C gd is discussed and the driver circuit is designed. Finally, the experimental verification is carried out.
