Abstract

The shielding effectiveness of sintered YBa2Cu3Oy is significant at low signal amplitudes over a wide frequency range. The performance is dependent on the amplitude of the radiation and on the presence of static magnetic fields. The major contribution to the shielding effectiveness arises from the reflection at the surfaces due to impedence mismatch. An absorption component also exists and is associated with weak-link and flux penetration effects.
