Abstract
During a research conducted between 1996 and 1998 there were observed a number of examples of shepherd summer housings in Povlen mountain (1,347 m) in Serbia. These buildings were used from spring to fall, and inhabited by residents of nearby villages Makoviste and Taor. Building organization is single-spaced. Construction of dwellings ranging from simple objects such as ?kucer?, then ?kulaca? covered with hay, objects made of stone and wooden slabs to objects with nailed slats. Building material, wood and stone, is of local origin. Stone is partially hewn and appears in the form of thin layers of limestone and it is easy for handling. All buildings are covered with shingle. The buildings are located on unfenced plots along with livestock buildings. This paper focuses on organization, construction and shaping of these facilities.
