Abstract

A shell-model description of the zirconium and niobium isotopes is presented that gives the systematic trends in energy levels and parentage for the isotopes with N = 50 through N = 56. The nucleus 88Sr is taken to be an inert core with protons filling the ( 2 p 1 2 , 1 g 9 2 ) levels and neutrons the ( 2 d 5 2 , 3 s 1 2 ) levels. Two-body matrix elements are determined by a least-squares fit to energy-level data. One- and two-particle transfer, electromagnetic transition rates, and energy level data are examined.
