Abstract

The author examines the application of the surface impedance technique (SIT) to transient problems and shell structures where the conductor thickness is much less than the skin depth. The theoretical framework is developed for a cylindrical geometry. Test results are presented for both cylindrical and spherical transient problems. It is concluded that the SIT is a useful technique for examining both transient and steady-state field variations in eddy current problems. >
