Abstract

In connexion with rupture of the ulnar collateral ligament of the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb a fragment of bone can be sheared off from either the ulnar part of the base of the phalanx or the palmar part of the radial condyle of the metacarpal head, or from both. Five illustrative cases are reported, and diagnosis and treatment are discussed.
