Abstract

Although a number of detailed reports have introduced autologous tissue and allogeneic transplantation in the domain of breast surgery, there are few reports on the aesthetic shaping of breast reconstruction. Similarly, despite abundant literatures regarding the technical points of anatomy related to breast plastic surgery, breast reconstruction of autologous tissue, and breast implants, there is hardly any monograph on the artistic techniques for shaping breasts in the process of breast plastic surgery and breast reconstruction. Most experienced breast surgeons would believe that the shape of a breast created or reconstructed during breast reconstruction and cosmetic surgery should be aesthetically satisfactory, such a view might seem self-evident. However, every surgeon has his or her own surgical techniques to achieve the great aesthetic results. Usually, techniques can be imparted to their students, whereas some specific surgical techniques cannot. In most cases, it needs a long process of trial and errors for the students to obtain “experience and mastership” [1].
