Abstract

In this paper, shape of various hard and soft solid particles has been analyzed by using ImageJ simulation tool. Three different solids namely fly ash, bottom ash and iron-ore were used for simulation study. Prior to simulation, the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was carried out at different magnification scales. Image processing analysis (IPA) enabled simulations were performed on SEM micrographs of fly ash, bottom ash and iron-ore particles. During this process, different thresholds were applied on image. Simulation tool runs digital interpretations by reading the pixel and grey value information present in a particular SEM micrograph. On the basis of digital interpretations, various factors such as perimeter, roundness, circularity, coefficient of variance etc. were calculated
