SH surface waves in a coated half-space with various types of interfaces

We investigated the propagation of SH surface wave in a coated half-space with imperfect interfaces. By constructing the interface between the surface layer and the half-space with a combination of a spring layer and a thin membrane (in the scope of surface/interface elasticity), we established a combined model for the interface. This combined interface model can degenerate to other interface models by taking the interfacial parameters to various limits. To demonstrate the new findings, we drew dispersion curves of the SH surface waves with the newly established interface models and discussed their dispersion features. The present study completes the whole range influence of the imperfect interfaces on the SH surface waves propagating in coated half-spaces.
