Abstract
THE objective of this report is to add something to our present information regarding the ways in which egg production data may be handled in order to achieve maximum efficiency in utilizing the data. Heritabilities and genetic correlations have been calculated. These are presented not with a view to adding to current estimates of “genetic parameters,” but rather for a comparison between the different methods of analyses. The authors are aware that such estimates, even when obtained with reasonable accuracy, are valid estimates only for the genetic situation in the population from which they are calculated, and that these may change although computed from the same closed population.King and Henderson (1954 a) considered both production index and survivors’ production. They suggested that the production index might not provide the best combination of mortality and production. Jerome, Henderson and King (1956) and Oliver, Bohren and Anderson (1957) have dealt with …
