Abstract
Gender classification from fingerprints is a main step in forensic investigations in order to identify the gender of a criminal and minimize the list of suspects search.1 The present investigation is attempted to evaluate gender dimorphism in digital dermatoglyphic traits such as basic finger pattern types and various pattern indices from a total of 102 Christian people from Mysore city, consisting of 60 males and 42 females. Data was collected by using of USB fingerprint reader (biometric scanner). The distribution of patterns was found to be in the following order:
