Abstract

Viewing menopause from the vantage point of the psychosexual endocrinologist, a number of salient questions need to be answered. Are there changes in a woman’s sexuality during the menopausal period? If so, how frequent and extensive are these changes? What is the nature of any such changes in sexuality (libido, sexual activity or sexual response)? Can we distinguish menopausal from general aging effects? And last but not least: are hormones responsible for the changes in sexuality?
