Abstract

Introduction: Women are more likely to present for repair of a ruptured aortic aneurysm, have a smaller aortic diameter at the time of repair, and experience worse peri-operative outcomes. The aortic size index (ASI), which indexes the aortic diameter to body surface area, has been proposed as a more sensitive measure to determine the threshold for repair. Therefore, we evaluated the effect of ASI and aortic diameter on rupture rates and peri-operative outcomes following aneurysm repair in female patients.
