Abstract

Working in sex offender programs is a new area of practice for occupational therapy. The sexual offense needs to be understood in terms of the bio-ps cho-social problems it reflects. Since occupational therapy ernp P asizes the total person and his cornpet in occupationai role performance, it would appear that it is a le to contribute significantly to the treatment of sex offenders. The role of occupational therapy is to provide the opportunity for the offender to develop the necessary habits and skills to enable him to function competently in his family, work and social roles.
