Abstract

Practice is the sole criterion for the examination of truth. The development of things, especially the development of complex social phenomena, is unfolded step by step in the course of time. Only when we piece together what happens first with what happens later, in order to make comparisons and analyses, can we have a clear understanding of something. Therefore historical investigation is an important method for understanding the inherent laws that govern the development of social phenomena. This article is designed to proceed from certain aspects (mainly quantitative) of the development of full-time regular primary and secondary education in Zhejiang Province in the past thirty years to inquire into a number of issues so that the development of China's general education can be planned better.
