Abstract

Background: Early initiation of therapeutic hypothermia (TH) for the treatment of Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE) in term newborns has shown to improve outcomes. Many infants require transport into tertiary hospitals. The Tecotherm-Neo provides servo-controlled cooling compared to protocol driven use of various cooling agents. SMART Aim: By January, 2017, a protocol to recognize, initiate, and therapeutically cool infants during transport using the Tecotherm will be developed and implemented with a target temperature goal of 33-34° Celsius.
