Abstract

This paper describes the service condition of few long span pedestrian suspension bridges in Rhodopi Mountain of Bulgaria. They were built more than 50 years ago and were reconstructed after 35 years of exploitation. Visual inspection was made in the summer of 2021 by the authors. Typical design shortcomings are presented. In conclusion some ideas for the improvement of their condition with respect to their future save exploitation are suggested.
