Abstract

Lipid classes and per cent composition of total fatty acids were investigated in serum of normal subjects and patients with chronic alcoholic liver disease. In view of the histological findings, the latter were classified in 5 groups according to the severity of their liver damage. A correlation was shown between changes in lipid classes with morphological liver abnormalities, whilst a similar correlation could not be established with alterations of total fatty acids per cent composition.
